Exercise in Winter
Keeping motivated to exercise during the winter months is hard for most people. Only the truly dedicated are able to keep on track without any help. The weather is colder and there is less daylight hours so the early morning and late afternoon activities may have to change.
If you regularly train outdoors during these times, changing to an indoors session will keep you focused and the change might give you new results.
If you change from doing regular walking or running sessions to strength training exercises your body will respond to the different activity and the results will be noticeable.
There are some different ways to help you keep motivated during the colder months.
Firstly seek the services of a personal trainer. We will keep you motivated and focused to reach your goals safely. With professional advice and help on exercise and nutrition a personal trainer should be the first person you talk to about keeping motivated.
If your car isn’t performing how it should you will seek the help of a mechanic, so if your body isn’t performing how you would like you should seek the help of a trainer!
If you are trying to lose weight, place a picture of yourself on the fridge door to remind yourself why you are exercising or a picture of someone whose body you would like to have.
Another method is to buy a piece of clothing that you would like to wear but can’t or won’t at the moment, and use that as the motivation to keep you on track.
Whatever you choose it’s important to keep the regular exercise going and not to go into hibernation over the winter only to regret it in spring. If you keep focused on your personal goal and the reason why you have been exercising and use these ideas above, it will be easier to get up when it’s still dark and cold and you will be thankful in summer.
