Everybody wants them. Great Abdominals, the six-pack a flat stomach. Every new piece of gym equipment that is advertised on the home shopping channels is an abdominal machine. The Ab doer, The Ab cruncher, The Bean, the list goes on. Why are there so many different pieces of fitness equipment designed just for your abs? Because everyone wants a flat stomach like the models you see demonstrating these machines. Everyone wants to look good and be attractive to the opposite sex. And a fat stomach isn’t sexy!
So how do you get the killer six-pack? Do you buy the latest piece of equipment that’s on sale? Have you bought them before? Do you have one in the garage that you are trying to sell? Don’t be embarrassed. Most people have purchased one before because they believed the great marketing these companies employ.
Well here is a big secret about weight loss that these marketing companies forget to tell you. You can’t spot reduce body fat from one part of your body! This means you can’t lose fat from your stomach without losing it from anywhere else on your body. Weight loss and fat loss will happen from your entire body at the same time. You just have more fat cells around your tummy, hips and thighs so your body will store more fat there.
So the key to having six-pack abs and a sexy flat stomach is to reduce your total body fat percentage. How to do it.
1. Eat less, Move more. It aint rocket science. If you are using more energy then you consume your body will start using its energy stores which is fat.
2. Stop consuming high fat, high calorie food. It will kill you. Fat has no nutritional value at all. When you are going to eat something ask yourself these questions. What is the nutritional value of this food? Is it good for me? Is it a natural food that is primarily unprocessed, or is it a processed and packaged food? Will this food be beneficial to me and my health or not.
3. Build lean muscle on your body. Muscle requires energy to move, fat does not. The more muscle on your body, the more energy you will burn consistently. Even when you are asleep. Manual labor has been replaced by computers and office jobs so you need to supplement the loss of muscle stimulus with resistant training.
4. Exercise on a regular basis. There are 168 hours in a week. Find 3-5. Time should not be used as an excuse for not exercising. Prioritize. Is your health more important than your favorite television show? Play with the kids on the weekend. Take up an outdoor activity or join a team sport. One good weight training session a week can make a difference.
5. Don’t waist your money on a gadget from tv. Get professional advice. Everyone is trying to make money out of you. Sell you the latest fitness quick fix. The latest wonder six-pack ab machine. Don’t be fooled. There is no quick fix. It takes discipline and a bit of hard work.
