Circuit Your Way to Fitness.

Circuit training has been around the fitness circles for over 30 years and is a great way to exercise for overall fitness and strength.

A study conducted at the National Athletic Health Institute in the U.S.A. found that participants in a class they supervised burned an incredible 800 calories in an hour. That is equivalent to running approximately 11 kilometers in the same time frame.

Why is it so effective?

The nature or design of a circuit training class is for the participants to complete a range of exercises with reasonable resistance covering the entire body. Once an exercise has been completed the participant moves on to the next exercise with little rest time in between. By doing this, two major results happen.

Firstly your muscles are building strength because of the resistance aspect of the training. This means your muscles, bones and joints will become stronger, more stable and less prone to injuries. More muscle on your body will increase your metabolism which means you will burn more calories consistently. Strong lean muscle will tone your body to give you your desired look.

The second great result you will achieve is an increase in your cardiovascular fitness. This will happen because there is only a short rest period in between exercises so your heart rate and oxygen consumption remain high. This increase in fitness improves your daily endurance capabilities and your lactic acid threshold. So it will be easier to walk up hills or climb the stairs and you will also burn more calories.

Regular exercising has a large number of medical benefits as well like lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, and reducing your risk of heart disease and type 11 diabetes.

So if you’re looking for a way to increase your fitness and tone your muscles try this style of training. It’s a great way to get in shape and have some fun at the same time.
