Do You Know How to Exercise to Burn Fat?
In summer time most people decide it’s time to start a health and fitness program to burn fat. Maybe because they want to look good on the beach, they eat and drink too much at Christmas or they make a News Year Resolution to lose weight. Whatever the reason, the next step is to decide what exercise’s to choose to reach these goals.
Firstly make sure you enjoy the exercise. It should be fun, not a chore.
Secondly schedule a time you can commit to. It’s no good committing to three hours a week, if you can only fit in one.
Thirdly be consistent. You won’t lose five kilo’s if you only jog once.
The following table gives you an idea on what exercise to choose.
LOW 4 calories burnt per minute.
Canoeing, Stationary bike, Golf, Walking, Tennis doubles, Stretch class, Skate boarding.
MODERATE 7 calories burnt per minute.
Aquarobics, Basketball, Cycling class, Football, Rowing machine, Swimming, Jogging, Weight- training.
HIGH 10 calories burnt per minute.
Boxing, Skipping, Cycling, Running, Step machine, Squad swimming.
With all programs the higher you make the intensity the more calories you will burn, but if you are starting something for the first time consult your doctor first.
A LOW intensity exercise will have no noticeable increase in breathing and heart rate.
MODERATE intensity will cause an increase in breathing and heart rate and maybe a light sweat.
HIGH intensity will cause hard breathing, puffing and panting.
To have effective weight loss it’s important to train in your Fat Burning Zone. Consult a Fitness professional to find your correct heart rate to achieve this.
To achieve a healthy balance you need to combine cardiovascular exercises for the heart and lungs, strength training for your muscles and bones, stretching and flexibility exercise’s for relief of stiffness and stress and good nutrition.
