Five Minute Workout

Big Results Come From Big Exercises.

If you are wanting the results you desire from your exercise program you must include the big exercises that recruit the most muscle activation. If you concentrate on the exercises that target the smaller, more cosmetic muscles like the biceps than you will only achieve small gains. If you concentrate on the big compound exercises you will achieve big gains. It makes sense, doesn't it?

To lose weight you need to burn up more energy than you consume. Move more, eat less. Simple. The more muscle on your body will mean the more energy you will burn all the time. Even when you are resting. Sounds good right. So to get the muscle to create this fat burning machine, the exercises you choose need to recruit the maximum amount of muscle activation.

The leg muscles are the largest in the body and is generally the area where most women would like to change. So the best way to train these muscles is compound exercises that require all the muscles to activate. These exercises are Squats, Lunges, Deadlifts and Leg Press if you have access to a Leg Press machine. All these exercises recruit the Gluteus, Quadriceps and Hamstring muscles as well as the smaller stabilizing muscles around the hip area. If performed correctly the core muscles of the trunk area will also get a great workout

These 4 exercises are much more beneficial than isolated exercises such as Hamstring curls or Adductor machines.

For the upper body the large muscles are in the back, chest and shoulder regions. For the chest and shoulders the best exercises are the Bench Press or Chest Press, Pushups and Shoulder Press. Dips performed on Dip bars are also a great exercises for these muscles. For the back muscles Chin-ups are great if you are strong enough to lift your own body weight. If you can’t, Lat Pull Down machines simulate the same movement. Seated Rows are another great exercise for the back. Variations of this can be performed with a Barbell or Dumbbell.

If these exercises are performed with enough intensity the smaller muscles in the arms, Biceps and Triceps, will get a great workout as well.

All of these exercises have some difficulty in performing correctly because there is a lot of muscle activation so you need to make sure you have a good technique, but the results you will achieve will be worth it.
